AIS and Huawei have launched the "Smart Network, Intelligent City" initiative, marking a significant step toward creating intelligent, self-managing wireless networks. By focusing on innovations such as digital twins and decision-making intelligence, the collaboration aims to enhance network performance, energy efficiency, and user experiences.
Recently, Thailand’s leading telecom operator AIS, as one of the first partners, officially launched the "Smart Network, Intelligent City" initiative with Huawei. The aim is to co-develop high-quality, reliable, and intelligent wireless networks through joint innovation in the field of wireless intelligence.
AIS is committed to achieving the Autonomous Network (AN) L4 strategic goal by 2025. Over the past two years, Huawei and AIS have closely collaborated in the wireless intelligence field, successfully incubating innovative applications such as "Base Station Outage Compensation" and "Intelligent Burst Traffic Optimization." These applications not only enhance network traffic and operational efficiency but also significantly improve customer satisfaction, helping AIS achieve its AN L3 phase strategic goals in key wireless scenarios.
The core concept of the "Smart Network, Intelligent City" initiative is deep collaboration between Huawei and industry partners such as operators, combining cutting-edge intelligent technologies like large models and digital twins. The goal is to jointly incubate new intelligent applications and business models for wireless networks, unlocking new business opportunities and economic value in the wireless field. AIS's participation as a key partner in this initiative marks a significant step toward achieving its vision of a Level 4 Autonomous Network, where systems can manage themselves nearly 100%.
AIS and Huawei plan to collaborate on three key areas:
Kitti Ngarmchatetanarom, Chief Technology Officer of AIS, stated, “Through our collaboration with Huawei, we have made significant progress in the wireless field. Fully embracing the 'Smart Network, Intelligent City' initiative, we are prepared to further enhance network operation capabilities and provide tailored, exceptional user experiences for everyone. This will accelerate our transformation to AN L4, evolving from a traditional telecom service provider to a pioneer in cognitive technology."
Zhao Zhenlong, President of Huawei’s MAE Product Line for Wireless Networks, commented, “Huawei has always been dedicated to close cooperation with operators and industry partners to help them boost network productivity and create new opportunities and commercial value for the industry. Through the 'Smart Network, Intelligent City' initiative, Huawei will collaborate with AIS on large models and digital twin technology innovations, empowering networks with intelligence and assisting AIS in becoming a benchmark for AN L4, jointly leading the industry into a new era of wireless intelligence."
Since its launch at MWC Shanghai in June 2024, the "Smart Network, Intelligent City" initiative has garnered increasing recognition from telecom operators. With more industry partners joining, this initiative will continue to drive intelligent innovation in the sector, providing solid technical preparation and valuable case studies for the wireless self-intelligence industry to advance to L4. It will contribute significantly to the global development of intelligent wireless networks.
